Asset Preservation

Using advanced Cortec VpCI® (Vapor Phase Corrosion Inhibitor) technology, we ensure complete protection against corrosion, both internally and externally without the need for continuous maintenance. Our preservation programs are tailored for oil & gas facilities, refineries, petrochemical plants, and marine operations, where assets are often exposed to harsh environments or extended idle periods. VpCI® molecules form an invisible, protective layer over all metal surfaces, including voids and hard-to-reach areas, providing lasting defense against humidity, salt, and contaminants.
Preservation strategies can be developed for static, rotating and electrical equipment, as well as raw materials, operational spares and inventory. Depending on the asset, environment and required preservation period, Cortec® technologies can be applied internally and externally through solutions such as VpCI® films and packaging, emitters, temporary protective coatings, powders, additives and fogging systems.
At the core of many of these applications is VpCI® Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitor technology, which is designed to provide protection through vapor, liquid and surface-contact phases. Within enclosed spaces, VpCI® molecules form a protective molecular layer on metal surfaces, including difficult-to-reach areas, making the technology suitable for equipment internals and complex assemblies.
Asset preservation can be implemented for short-term storage, long-term storage or mothballing, transportation, construction and temporary shutdowns, with the preservation method selected according to the equipment type, exposure conditions and expected duration of inactivity. We also provide engineering support for developing and implementing preservation programmes rather than relying on a single standard treatment.
